CATALOGUE NOTE
Elias van den Broeck was pupil of Cornelis Kick in Amsterdam for 4 years. Between 1669 and1671 he was pupil of Jan Davidsz. de Heem in Utrecht. He moved to Antwerp in 1672, possibly with Jan Davidsz. de Heem and became a master in the Guild of St. Luke a year later. In 1685 he moves to Amsterdam. His still lifes of flowers can easily be recognized from their typical nightly atmosphere.
