CATALOGUE NOTE
The rare iconography of the Madonna presenting the Christ Child horizontally laying on a white drapery can be found in some other known Madonna sculptures from the Brabant region dating to ca. 1500, notably Madonna standing on the Crescent Moon surrounded by a Halo, kept in the collection of the Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum, Aachen (inv.nr SK 240) and a Madonna and Child, kept in the St. Martinus Church in Strijtem, Belgium.
