This vanitas still life follows the work of Hendrick Andriessen, who painted several other vanitas still lives, one in the collection of the Museum voor Schone Kunsten in Ghent (inv./cat.nr. 1914), another in the collection of the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology in Oxford (inv./cat.nr. 5) and seven in private collections.
