CATALOGUE NOTE
These fine pictures on copper are based on the print series The Eight Wonders of the World by Philips Galle (1537–1612), published in 1574, after drawings by Maarten van Heemskerck (1498–1574). Several copies in oil following these prints are known by different hands, e.g. Guilliam van Nieulandt II (1584-1635), and of variable dimensions. Several of these are attributed to Louis de Caullery (ca. 1580–1621) and his workshop.
